Hạ Long Bay Charter Guide

Hạ Long Bay spans over 1,500 square kilometers and includes more than 1,600 islands and islets—many of which are untouched and uninhabited. The name “Hạ Long” means “descending dragon,” referring to the legendary creature said to have formed the islands. While day cruises are popular, true luxury lies in spending a night or two on the water aboard a high-end vessel or charter yacht, where you can enjoy sunrise yoga on deck, chef-prepared Vietnamese cuisine, and starlit dinners surrounded by towering cliffs. Sung Sot Cave (Surprise Cave)

One of the largest and most impressive caves in the bay, Sung Sot features two vast chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites illuminated by soft, colorful lighting. A short hike to the cave entrance also offers panoramic views of the bay’s limestone formations.

Titov Island

Named after a Russian astronaut who visited in the 1960s, this island offers one of the best viewpoints in Hạ Long Bay. Climb the stairway to the top for a breathtaking 360-degree vista, then cool off with a swim on its crescent-shaped beach.

Cát Bà Island & Lan Hạ Bay

Just south of Hạ Long Bay, Cát Bà Island and the surrounding Lan Hạ Bay offer a quieter, less crowded alternative with equally stunning scenery. Explore by kayak or small boat, visit Cát Bà National Park, or stay in one of the upscale eco-resorts tucked into the island’s lush hills.

Vung Viêng Floating Village

Thien Cung Cave (Heavenly Palace Cave)
