Chief Mate / Relief Captain - 60m+ M/Y - Private - Bahamas & Caribbean

We are currently seeking a Permanent Chief Mate to join a 60m+ Private Motor Yacht.

We are seeking an experienced Permanent Chief Mate / Relief Captain for a 60m+ Private Motor Yacht operating primarily in the Bahamas and Caribbean. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the smooth running of the vessel, embracing a relaxed program and prioritising safety and crew wellbeing. This role offers an opportunity to work with a strong crew that have build longevity onboard, within a dynamic and well-structured environment where department heads run their own sections. The Captain, values a safety-first approach, routine and proactive leadership, with an emphasis on training and procedures that support the vessel’s efficient operation. The ideal candidate will be capable of driving their department confidently and taking charge as needed when the Captain is away. The role involves participation in operational deliveries, maintenance refits and upcoming trips in various locations including the Caribbean, New England, Costa Rica and Cabo.

Start Date: March 2026

Candidate requirements:

• Valid STCW and ENG1.
• Chief Mate (Ideally Master 3000GT)
• Valid B1/B2 Visa or US Green Card and Schengen Visa
• Experience as Chief Officer or First Mate on large yachts
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to take charge and manage department heads
• Strong safety awareness and the ability to oversee safety procedures onboard
• Flexible and adaptable, with a good understanding of yacht operations and routine
• Comfortable with overseeing maintenance, refits and deliveries
• Experience working independently and making sound decisions in the absence of the Captain
• Ability to foster a team environment focused on safety, training and professionalism

Package:

• Salary: $9,000 pcm
• Leave: 8 weeks per year
• Itinerary: Bahamas, Caribbean, New England, Costa Rica, Cabo and the Dominican Republic 
• Bonus: 13th month and training
