Model Review: The Princess S80

TWW News

In the ever-evolving world of luxury yachts, Princess Yachts has unveiled a stunning new addition to its range: the Princess S80. Making its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, this sleek and sporty model promises a thrilling experience on the water without compromising on elegance or comfort.

The Princess S80 is a standout not just for its performance, but for its thoughtful design. Built on the same platform as the Y80 and X80, this vessel offers a completely distinct experience. Where the X80 focuses on maximum accommodation and the Y80 leans toward flybridge-style luxury, the S80 delivers something else entirely—an outdoor-focused, high-performance yacht crafted for those who love sun, speed, and style.

A Design for Outdoor Living

One of the S80’s most compelling features is its emphasis on open-air living. The expansive aft cockpit is a clear testament to this philosophy. Unlike the X80 or Y80, the main deck is pushed forward to allow for a vast outdoor lounging space at the stern. This area is complete with movable seating, sunpads, and side boarding doors, offering the perfect spot for entertaining or relaxing under the sun.

Integrated air conditioning vents shade and cool this cockpit . On warm Mediterranean days, the ability to stay cool while still enjoying the outdoors will be a welcome feature.

Beneath the sunpads, you’ll find a tender garage large enough to accommodate a Williams 435 tender. This area also gives access to the crew cabin and engine room, maximizing space efficiency without sacrificing functionality.

Indoor-Outdoor Flow

Transitioning indoors, the galley-aft layout helps maintain the yacht’s connection to the outdoor living space. A retractable window seamlessly merges the galley with the cockpit, creating a natural flow between the two environments.

Inside, the galley is finished in a sleek Silver Oak, though other finishes such as Walnut or traditional Oak are available. Practical elements are fully integrated: fridge, freezer drawers, dishwasher, Miele hob, oven, and grill. Storage is smartly concealed with custom drawers for cutlery, crockery, and wine bottles, complemented by a wine cooler and ice maker for effortless entertaining.

A Sophisticated Saloon

Beyond the galley, the main saloon continues the yacht’s modern aesthetic. Large side windows flood the space with natural light. Princess fitted the saloon with a retractable TV and surround sound system. The saloon is a cozy retreat in poor weather. It offers both comfort and functionality.

A clever detail is the sliding sunroof above, an exclusive feature of the S80. Unlike its flybridge siblings, this yacht allows sunlight to pour into the interior even while underway—creating a thrilling open-air experience without sacrificing shelter from wind and spray.

Helm and Navigation

Up front, the main helm is as luxurious as it is practical. Featuring three embroidered helm seats, a side deck access door, and multi-function displays, this area is clearly designed with both owner-operators and professional captains in mind.

The Boning system provides intuitive access to critical onboard systems, from freshwater and fuel levels to lighting, navigation lights, and air conditioning. An optional third fuel tank increases the yacht’s range, adding flexibility for longer voyages.

A Versatile Flybridge

Despite the S80’s sporty profile, the flybridge is surprisingly spacious. The area includes an additional helm station, wraparound sofa seating, a wet bar, and an extendable dining table.

Key features like a barbecue, fridge, sink, and ice maker are all present, ensuring the flybridge serves as a true entertainment hub. The sleek radar arch and bimini top finish off the space with modern flair.

Luxurious Lower Deck Layout

Below deck, the Princess S80’s accommodations mirror the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and comfort. The lower deck is consistent with what’s found on the X80 and Y80, yet it fits the S80’s identity perfectly.

The VIP suite forward boasts generous storage, a vanity, and its own ensuite bathroom. Subtle lighting, fluted wood finishes, and high-end AV systems create an atmosphere that feels both relaxing and refined.

Two guest cabins amidships share access to the day head, which doubles as private ensuite facilities via cleverly designed connecting doors. Both rooms can be configured as twins or doubles, offering flexibility for guests.

Owner’s Full-Beam Retreat

At the stern of the lower deck lies the full-beam owner’s suite, a true highlight of the S80. Featuring a large walk-in wardrobe, dressing table, and expansive ensuite bathroom with double sinks and rainfall shower, this cabin offers luxury in abundance.

Soft-close drawers, floating vanity surfaces, and the same elegant woodwork found throughout the yacht reinforce the sense of premium craftsmanship.

Performance and Engineering

Performance is a major selling point of the S80. The yacht is powered by twin MAN V12 engines. Each delivers 2,000 horsepower and enables speeds of up to 36 knots. Few 80-foot yachts offer this level of performance, especially with this degree of refinement.

Cruising range varies by speed. It covers around 300 nautical miles at 30 knots and over 1,000 nautical miles at 11 knots. This makes the S80 suitable for both weekend getaways and longer coastal journeys.

The engine room itself is impressively spacious—especially notable given the inclusion of a tender garage. Inside, you’ll find dual generators, a Seakeeper stabilizer, and Sleipner hydraulics that support the yacht’s advanced thruster and anchoring systems.

Dedicated Crew Space

While the S80 is ideal for owner-operators, it still provides a practical crew cabin. The space includes twin bunks, separate bathroom and shower, and additional laundry facilities. It can also serve as overflow accommodation or a utility space when cruising privately.

Final Thoughts: The Sporty All-Rounder

The Princess S80 is more than just a luxury yacht—it’s a bold statement of performance, outdoor living, and modern design. It stands apart from its X80 and Y80 siblings by offering a more open, thrill-focused experience without compromising on the features expected in a yacht of this caliber.

From the moment you step aboard, it’s clear that every element—whether the sprawling cockpit, the cleverly integrated galley, or the exhilarating helm—has been designed with intent. Whether you’re an owner-operator or prefer a small crew, the S80 adapts easily.

If you’re seeking a yacht that combines high-speed cruising, luxurious amenities, and open-air elegance, the Princess S80 may well be the perfect fit. It’s not just another 80-foot yacht—it’s the sport model for those who want it all.
