In a market where innovation is the only constant, Horizon Yachts continues to push the boundaries with their FD (Fast Displacement) series. The Horizon FD100 is a shining example of how far modern yacht design has come. This 100-foot vessel offers the space and functionality of a 120-footer, combined with sleek styling, advanced engineering, and a surprising degree of customizability.
We had the chance to step aboard the Horizon FD100 during a quiet moment before the show officially opened. This gave us rare access to its pristine interiors and uninterrupted deck views, showcasing the full extent of what this impressive yacht has to offer. Every detail speaks to thoughtful evolution, from the floating staircase and folding TVs to the enormous beach club and crew-friendly layout.
Main Deck: Contemporary Comfort Meets Classic Functionality
The main deck immediately sets the tone with its vast aft cockpit. This space, ideal for lounging or al fresco dining, benefits from modular furniture that adapts easily to the owner’s needs. A fully equipped wet bar with refrigeration, an ice maker, and a sink creates a seamless entertainment hub.
Inside, the saloon is bathed in natural light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors on both sides. This openness enhances the yacht’s connection with the sea. The saloon flows directly into the dining area, which can comfortably seat eight. Overhead, detailed paneling and refined lighting create a modern, sophisticated ambiance.
Next is the galley—an expansive, island-style kitchen that rivals many home kitchens in both design and function. Smartly open-plan, the galley can also be enclosed with clever rising partitions and sliding doors, depending on whether guests or crew are doing the cooking. There’s ample refrigeration, a dishwasher, a trash compactor, and lots of drawer space for fine crockery and cutlery.
Owner’s Suite: A Sanctuary on the Main Deck
Unusually for a yacht of this size, the Horizon FD100 features a full-beam owner’s cabin on the main deck. The space feels open and luxurious, enhanced by light-toned upholstery and warm walnut wood finishes. Generous wardrobes, a dressing table, and an AV system are all integrated seamlessly into the room’s layout.
The ensuite bathroom is split with his-and-hers entrances converging on a large central shower. Light pours in from above through skylights, which include privacy and bug screens, a thoughtful dual-purpose feature. This layout not only maximizes space but provides excellent functionality for extended stays aboard.
Guest Accommodation: Designed with Versatility in Mind
Moving down to the lower deck, guests are treated to four additional cabins. Two nearly identical double cabins each feature their own ensuites with sliding privacy doors and full-size showers. Every cabin maintains the same high standard of finish found elsewhere on the yacht, from the AV equipment to the upholstered headboards and cedar-lined wardrobes.
A twin cabin includes a Pullman berth, making it perfect for children or additional guests. Forward lies the VIP cabin, which rivals the owner’s suite in size and style. The ensuite offers a large shower and plenty of storage, while the cabin itself includes a dressing area, multiple drawers, and beautiful wood finishes. Again, practicality meets elegance in every corner.
Upper Deck: Command, Entertain, Repeat
Upstairs, the Horizon FD100 offers a fully enclosed bridge—ideal for maintaining night vision and climate control while underway. Three large Garmin multifunction displays dominate the helm, giving the captain total control over navigation, thrusters, trim tabs, and onboard systems. Doors on either side provide direct access to the deck.
Behind the bridge lies a spacious sky lounge, designed to entertain. A pop-up TV and surround sound system make it ideal for movie nights, while a day head adds convenience. Refrigerators here are convertible between fridge and freezer modes, ensuring the space functions equally well for cocktails or long voyages.
Step outside to the aft upper deck and you’re greeted by a generous dining area under the hardtop. A hidden barbecue station cleverly lifts to a usable height, while nearby fridges, sinks, and an ice maker round out the amenities.
Sun Deck: The Ultimate Chill Zone
Climb to the top, and the sun deck reveals itself as a true showstopper. A hot tub occupies center stage, surrounded by plush sunpads with panoramic views. Additional refrigeration and bar amenities are tucked to the side, meaning you won’t have to travel far for refreshments. This elevated space is perfect for relaxing at anchor or entertaining under the stars.
The attention to comfort continues with thoughtful shading and robust safety railings. Whether it’s cocktails at sunset or a lazy afternoon dip, this deck elevates the onboard experience—literally and figuratively.
Bow and Side Decks: Seamless Circulation
Walk the side decks and you’ll notice how well thought-out the circulation is. From the bridge, crew can access either side of the yacht via sliding doors. There’s another intimate seating area at the bow, complete with a bar and storage for canopies and cushions.
Forward, you’ll also find the anchoring equipment, neatly recessed but easy to access. Storage lockers are scattered throughout, keeping essential gear hidden but within reach. Again, Horizon’s design ethos of practicality-meets-elegance is on full display.
Crew Quarters: Comfort Without Compromise
Down a private stairway, the crew quarters surprise with their size and finish. A full galley with a cooking station, refrigerator, microwave, and sink sits adjacent to a relaxed mess area. The two twin-bunk cabins share a bathroom and separate shower, all finished to a standard that feels more guest-grade than crew-only.
The captain enjoys a private ensuite cabin with AV equipment and additional storage. There’s also a second laundry station, backing up the guest-level washer/dryer for operational efficiency. For a 100GT yacht, the crew accommodation is nothing short of exceptional.
Engine Room: Power Meets Polish
Through a watertight door and past the beach club lies the engine room. It’s immaculately finished, with well-routed wiring and clear labeling—a true engineer’s paradise. Twin Caterpillar C32A engines provide 1,900 horsepower each, delivering a top speed of 20 knots. A fast cruise sits at 16.5 knots, while a long-range cruise at 10 knots yields over 2,000 nautical miles.
The FD100 lives up to its Fast Displacement moniker, offering both pace and efficiency. Additional systems include dual generators, a watermaker, and a hydraulic pack for the thrusters and stabilizers. This is a vessel built to travel far and do so comfortably.
Beach Club & Tender Garage: Where Luxury Meets the Sea
At water level, the FD100 boasts a beautiful beach club accessed via a massive clamshell-style transom door. When open, this becomes a stylish waterfront lounge with plush seating, a pop-out TV, and views that bring the ocean right to your feet.
There’s also a high-low swim platform, which doubles as a tender garage. This keeps toys and tenders out of sight but always ready for action. Whether launching paddleboards or jet skis, this area serves as the ultimate link between the yacht and the sea.
Final Thoughts: A New Standard for 100-Foot Yachts
The Horizon FD100 is far more than just a stylish boat—it’s a masterclass in layout optimization, material selection, and seakeeping capability. With generous accommodation, multiple entertainment zones, and a genuine long-range pedigree, it redefines what you can expect from a 100-foot yacht.
Owners looking for a yacht that blends space, speed, and smart design will find few contenders that match the FD100. Horizon has created a vessel where nothing feels compromised—from the floating staircase to the crew comfort, every inch is designed with intent.
At TWW Yachts, we’re proud to feature the Horizon FD100 in our portfolio. Whether you’re an experienced yachtsman or making your first foray into superyacht ownership, this is a model that promises a rewarding experience both onboard and underway.
