Despite growing up in landlocked counties of the UK, young Piers could often be found sailing rivers, locks and just about any body of water he could find. Eventually graduating to the sea.
During this early sailing experience, Piers found he had a natural ability with all things engineering. A drive to improve whatever he was sailing; whether it was trying to make the vessel faster, more efficient or better looking, Piers had discovered a passion. This passion led him to an engineering apprenticeship, with Piers qualifying as a Marine Engineer, and an impressive seagoing career, culminating with Piers as Chief Engineer on a selection of yachts up to 90m.
This extensive time on board has afforded Piers an in-depth understanding of the daily challenges of life at sea. It also allowed him to travel to many destinations, experiencing multiple cultures, approaches and ways of doing things. In turn, learning how to adapt to these different working dynamics.
Piers carried this invaluable experience with him when he transitioned to shoreside Yacht Management in 2005. In the time since then, Piers has managed and represented clients with the build of over 20 yachts, led numerous major yacht refits and guided his teams through the intricacies of operationally supporting significant fleets.
Piers has continued his own development through this time, achieving various professional certifications including being a qualified yacht surveyor (IIMS), being an elected member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), as well as sitting on various yacht industry committees.
With his extensive knowledge base, pragmatic approach, established experience and proven track record, Piers continues to exceed industry standards and drive expectations.
At TWW Yacht Management, Piers is a key part of the team, acting as the central point of contact for clients, key stakeholders and the wider team. Ensuring we continue to deliver the outstanding service and results that our clients expect.
When not in the office, Piers can often be found riding a motorbike, clay pigeon shooting and mountain biking. An engineer at heart, Piers enjoys applying his practical skills through maintaining his motorbikes and completing various home projects.
