Martin began his journey at sea at the tender age of 16, fresh out of school with a handful of GCSE’s he started out at South Tyneside college as an Engineering Cadet with P&O Cruises. Once qualified and armed with a Class 4 CoC, Martin continued within the industry working on a variety of vessels gaining knowledge and sea time. At the end of 2004, with a Class 1 Motor CoC and Class 2 Steam CoC, Martin was appointed his first Chief Engineer’s role on a sail assisted cruise ship. Over the next two decades, working on a variety of vessels in the role of Chief Engineer, this included the 126m yacht MY OCTOPUS, 73m MY VICKY (where Martin joined in the final phase of the build), before being offered the opportunity to joined the build in Germany of the 156m MY DILBAR (January 2014) Martin remained in Germany until 2019, moving from the build of DILBAR in 2015 to the build of the 136m MY FLYING FOX. Martin joined this project before the first steel was cut and remained with the yacht all the way to delivery and beyond, overseeing the build, setting up the yacht, liaising with all stake holders. Martin came ashore in 2020 as the Technical Superintendent, for FLYING FOX and FLYING FISH, just before the COVID outbreak and world lock downs.
Martin then joined a large London based Yacht Management team at the start of 2021 and was Technical Manager for a fleet of 12 superyachts ranging from 50m to 110m. In
December 2022, Martin joined the TWW Yacht Management team, assisting with the entire fleet with his vast knowledge and expertise where required.
