Meet our Team

Ed Cherrett

Yacht Manager
Ed grew up sailing small dinghies from an early age in Chichester Harbour on the south coast of England. It was here that he developed a love for the sea, which grew into a 26+ year career in the maritime industry.

Gaining a scholarship with Trinity House led Ed to circumnavigate the world on his second sea going trip. He sailed on many types and sizes of craft before passing his OOW qualifications. Once qualified, Ed chose a route in the oil & gas industry and sailed with BP for 10 years, up to the rank of Chief Officer, before coming ashore and working on the trading floor in London. This subsequently led him to lead the Assurance and Assessment team for BP Europe.

After 16 years with BP and having earned an MSc in Shipping Operations, Ed sought a more specialist role, becoming Global HSEQ Manager for TeeKay STS (Ship-To-Ship) Division. He remained in the STS industry for over a decade, acting as Marine Assurance Manager for Fendercare Marine, overseeing all marine assurance matters for Europe, the Americas and Africa. He then moved to SafeSTS, assuming the role of Senior Marine Manager. This included long-term chartering of vessels, establishing new countries of operation, and ensuring all country- specific licenses were obtained prior to importing assets worth millions of
dollars.

Ed set his sights on the yachting sector and made the move away from commercial shipping during 2020, accepting a role as DPA, CSO and Yacht Manager, which saw him managing one of the world’s largest sailing yachts, for a yacht management company based on the UK’s south coast. With his focus on safety and an ingrained passion to provide a high-end service, Ed embraced yachting enthusiastically and has continued to excel.

As part of the TWW Yacht Management team, Ed draws on more than two and a half decades of experience and developed knowledge to deliver the outstanding levels of service that our clients are used to. Supporting and guiding all key stakeholders through every operational element to drive standards and continually raise the performance of our yachts in the fleet and the teams on board.

Ed is a keen sailor who can still be found on the water in Chichester Harbour during the UK summer months, with his wife and two daughters. If the wind is not favourable, you’ll probably find him on a bike on the South Downs.
