Mykonos Yacht Charter

The most verdant and largest island within the famous Cyclades island group, Naxos, is renowned for its mesmerising natural beauty, which draws in thousands of visitors each year. Its rich, fertile landscape encompasses ancient sites, mountain towns and pristine beaches surrounded by warm, calm turquoise waters. The namesake capital, also known as Hora or Chora, is overflowing with an abundance of whitewashed, cube-shaped houses, terraces spilling with bougainvillaea and mediaeval Venetian villas. The Cyclades remain a steadfast favourite among yacht charters, and what better way to discover all the island has to offer than through a Naxos yacht charter? After dropping anchor, immerse yourself in the laid-back, welcoming Greek atmosphere and explore hidden coves, secluded cays and islets.

Naxos Charter Guide

As you travel to the port of Naxos, you will be able to see the iconic Portara arch, doorlike ruins of an ancient temple. Situated on a scenic hill that overlooks the city and sea, these beautiful marble gates were once the gateway to the temple of Apollo, which failed to withstand the passage of time.

Chora (Old Town Naxos)

From the harbour, make your way through the narrow, winding streets of Chora, through the Old Market of Bourgos and up Kastro, a hilltop Venetian Castle that dates back to the 13th century. Be sure to visit the Archeological Museum, which contains artefacts from 5300 BC.

Mount Zas

Mount Zas is the tallest peak on the island, stretching a thousand metres. With several trails heading up the mountain, climbing the summit is not for the faint of heart but is worth the magnificent views of Naxos and its surroundings.

Bazeos Tower

History buffs will thoroughly enjoy a visit to the town’s military tower and castle, Bazeos. This 17th-century monument also hosts the annual Naxos festival in the summer. Other historical sites to visit include the Temple of Demeter, the Monastery Fotodotis, and the Statues of Kouros.

Agios Prokopios

One of the many stunning beaches on the island, Agios Prokopios is listed among the most beautiful beaches in Europe, thanks to its pristine golden sands and turquoise waters. Protected from heavy winds, break out the water toys for an afternoon of fun under the sun.

Chalki

The former capital of Naxos, this picture-perfect mountain village is known for its thick olive groves and bushes. Spend a few hours exploring its small cobblestone streets and well-kept Byzantine churches, and Venetian Towers before learning more about the past of the island’s famous Kitron liquor.
