Referred to as the ‘minor’ island by the Romans of the Balearic Islands, Menorca may be smaller and more laid-back than its sister islands of Ibiza and Mallorca, but it offers just as beautiful cruising grounds, villages and beaches. Declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1993, close to half of the island’s surface is protected. Less developed, charterers will feel like they have travelled back in time when visiting Menorca, as its many archaeological sites, which date back to the Bronze Age, have been lovingly preserved. Its towns offer a quaint, rural charm, with stunning Spanish architecture and culture to be seen and felt wherever you go. The first place in Spain to be greeted by the sunrise each day, Menorca is a relatively flat island compared to its mountainous sister island of Mallorca. But its landscapes remain notoriously beautiful, as much of the island is protected under its UNESCO status, which also covers the architectural heritage in its towns.

Mahon

The capital of Menorca, the city is known for its art nouveau architecture and historic buildings. Often touted as an “open-air museum”, explore its stunning cathedral and winding streets lined with boutiques and cafes. Take in the marvellous view of the coast from its huge harbour, which has drawn in visitors for centuries.

Cala Galdana

This stunning crescent bay surrounded by pine forests and limestone cliffs is ideal for utter relaxation. Enjoy snorkelling in its shallow waters, or try your hand at some watersports before heading back to your charter yacht for a cocktail on the deck.

Ciutadella

A lush and green uninhabited island, it is home to a beautiful national park. See if you can spot a whale or dolphin before taking the tender ashore to trek along some of the island trails to the 14th-century Castilo de Cabrera and the lighthouse.

If you have the opportunity to spend a few relaxing days in Majorca, a trip to Cabrera is without a doubt one of the most recommended excursions. The island that gives the group its name, Cabrera, stands out in this small archipelago, barely half an hour by boat.

Ses Pedreres de s’Hostal

The unique and stunningly photogenic sandstone quarries of Ses Pedreres de s’Hostal make for an ideal afternoon excursion. After falling into disuse in 1994, the quarries have been preserved in their full geometric glory. Enjoy wandering through the stone labyrinth, botanical gardens and orchards.
