Emerald shortlisted for 2023 IYAA refit award

We are thrilled to announce that the Feadship 50.4-metre superyacht Emerald (ex. MQ2) has been shortlisted for the 2023 International Yacht Aviation Awards (IYAA) refit category.

IYAA, hosted by Design et al and Luxe et al, celebrates the best in design from two industries: yachting and aviation. This is the 13th instalment of the globally recognised award ceremony, and this year there are a total of 32 categories. Unlike other awards, the winners are selected online by the public and we urge you to cast your votes before Wednesday 7 June 2023.

TWW Yachts worked in consort with Mulder Design, Design Unlimited, WMC Superyachts and Balk Shipyard throughout the rebuild project and is proud to have her join their charter fleet. Emerald made her global debut in Barcelona, Spain, last April 2023 at MYBA Charter Show.

Emerald completed an extensive 16-month refit with Balk Shipyard in the Netherlands earlier this year, which saw a complete overhaul of her interior spaces and general arrangement. She was repainted with an “Orion Green” hull and underwent a stern extension, which saw her L.O.A. increased from 45.55 metres to her current length of 50.40 metres. Emerald has been completely modernised throughout without any compromises made to her much-loved 1990s exterior styling by De Voogte Naval Architects.

The refreshed layout has been designed around family use with a master and neighbouring VIP suite relocated to the main deck forward, and four remaining guest staterooms on the lower deck. She has two large lounge areas; the main saloon is open-plan and complete with a conversational area and formal dining area, while her skylounge has been fitted with new glass sliding doors that seamlessly connect with the enlarged bridge deck.

Balk Shipyard installed a new external staircase that allows ease of flow from the main deck all the way to the rebuilt sundeck, where guests are graced with panoramic views, a very large Jacuzzi and plenty of seating. The refit also saw her teak decks replaced and all technical equipment upgraded. Emerald now has brand-new navigation, AV/IT and communication systems, as well as two zero-speed Quantum extendable stabilisation fins.

Emerald offers accommodation for as many as 12 guests and 12 crew. She’s equipped with twin Caterpillar engines that deliver a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 14 knots.

Once the voting period concludes, the IYAA committee will verify the nominations and announce the winners during the highly anticipated Awards Ceremony on Friday, June 9, 2023, set to take place in Venice, Italy.
