Nicholas Tavanti

Nicholas graduated at the Italian Nautical College “A. Doria” in the early 90s, starting his career in the deck department.

After spending his cadetship on board tankers of various classes and typology around the world, he moved to Malta where he has remained for the majority of his maritime career.
Multi-functional, he covered diverse positions in both the private and public sector; he was part of the Maltese Flag administration as Flag and Port State Control Inspector, before moving to a prominent Maltese ferry company that regularly links the island to Sicily. For several years he covered the rank of Chief Officer and then Master on board their High Speed Crafts (Roll-on Roll-off passenger ferries) of various sizes. He was allocated to their subsidiary lines in Croatia and in the Strait of Gibraltar. He also facilitated the humanitarian evacuation of international personnel during the wars in Libya. During this time, he also continued his professional development qualifications, including Maritime Internal Auditor, Train the Trainer, DPA & CSO.

After nearly a decade on board vessels, he decided to move into vessel management starting in the same Maltese ferry Company as Marine Superintendent before moving to DPA/CSO in various international companies based in Malta.

Skills developed throughout this period in the Maritime industry in various positions including administration, management and crew deployment, gives him the flexibility to understand the various adversities and challenges that this industry may present and he manages to approach them with practicality and sensibility in order to achieve the final result.
Nicholas brings to the TWW Yacht Management team a wealth of expertise well deployed in the compliance department.
