Rum Cay Yacht Charter

One of the best-kept secrets of the Bahamas, Rum Cay is known for its fascinating historical ruins, bright coral reefs and miles of pristine, white sand beaches surrounded by picturesque rolling hills. Thought to be the second port of call during Christopher Columbus’ tour of the New World, this small island is calm, collected, yet amazingly beautiful. Previously home to Arawak Indians, Rum Cay is arguably the best place to experience a slice of the Bahamian way of life, with a single inhabited village. Experience the peaceful seclusion of Rum Cay during your yacht charter and escape the busy bustle of everyday life. A Rum Cay yacht charter is one of the finest ways to explore everything this part of the Bahamas has to offer in complete luxury.

Rum Cay Charter Guide

There are two main theories of how the island received its name. One is that it was named after the Isle of Rhum in Scotland, and the other is that the island received its name after a ship carrying rum wrecked on its shores.

Port Nelson

The only inhabited town on the island, much of the island trade takes place here. Visit some of the cafes to sample delicious local dishes, freshly caught in the crystal-clear waters while taking in the peculiar street signs in the island’s shape.

Hartford Cave

Holding the secrets of the island’s history, the cave walls of Hartford Cave are covered with ancient petroglyphs and art left by the Lucayan-Arawak Indians. Dating as far back as 500 AD, this cave is the perfect afternoon excursion on the island.

Grand Canyon

Rum Cay’s crystal-clear waters are perfect for divers and snorkelers of all levels. The coral formations of the Grand Canyon span nearly 60 feet, almost breaching the water’s surface, making for a spectacular wall dive, one you’re unlikely to forget.

Conception Island National Park

Home to stunning pink sand beaches, sandstone cliffs and an abundance of marine and land wildlife, this beautiful island has been uninhabited for over 100 years. A protected area, explore the dense mangroves at your own pace.

Wreckage of HMS Conqueror

Laying in just 30 feet of water, this British warship sank in 1861 and is now a designated underwater museum. A great starting point for first-time wreck divers, expect to see some of the guns, hawser holes and ship chains upon closer look.
