Mark van Gelderen

Whether it’s ultra-zippy Extreme 40 catamarans or iconic J-class beauties, born and bred Dutchman Mark van Gelderen is happiest when he is out racing on the water, chasing victory. Now a sales broker based in Palma, Mark has more than 25 years of hands-on sailing experience under his belt, allowing him to offer his unique expertise to TWW’s clients.

Originally trained in naval architecture, Mark first worked in new build project management – both racing and superyachts – before diving into yacht brokerage and management. Spanning both motor and sail, Mark has a list of previous projects as long as your arm, with just one highlight being the 35.2-metre Bloemsma & Claasen sailing yacht Firefly, which he helped build, project-managed and skippered.

Mark says: “It might sound a bit boastful to say, but when I speak to a potential client, I can present him with a yacht that would fit his needs within three minutes.
This is all thanks to my practical experience in sailing, as I know what makes every boat that little bit different.”
