The Best Yacht Show Season in many years.
September is Yacht Show month in the South of France. It started with the Cannes Yachting Festival with one of the major players being the builders of production boats up to 30 metres (100’) with many presenting their latest models for the first time. In addition, in Port Canto the brokerage houses show a broad selection of used yachts from 24 metres (80’) up to 50 metres (164’) and above. Both sections of the show had the same vibrant atmosphere.
TWW Yachts presented 4 yachts in the show with a further selection at anchor. There was much activity on our fleet throughout the show and a more constant flow of visitors than we have seen in previous years. The number of visitor was good but the buying intention was much better than other years. We are currently working on several offers and some other very active leads.
Only 10 days after the Cannes show the Monaco Yacht Show started with 120 yachts over 30 metres (100’) in the show and almost the same number at anchor. A total of 6 yachts were presented for sale each with a value of over € 200 million. We have never seen so many very large yachts for sale, let alone being all together in one show.
TWW Yachts looks back on the most successful Monaco Yacht Show since our existence. We had the 50m Codecasa Gazzella in the show which attracted a good number of potential buyers. The large volume and excellent condition makes her stand out.
At anchor we presented a further fleet of 8 yachts* and on 2 of them we received offers which were accepted. It takes a few more steps to close those deals but it is very encouraging. On 2 other yachts we have very active leads and we hope we can turn those into sales too. Unfortunately we cannot mention the specific yachts because brokers believe this will bring bad luck.
We also toured the show with potential buyers both for used yachts as for new construction. We expect to announce a couple of sales in the next months as a result of the Monaco Yacht Show.
September has taught us that the market is strong and that prices for new builds are going up which is also good for the brokerage market. Next month is the Fort Lauderdale International Yacht Show and we hope for a strong continuation.
